Yoshi General: A Lord of the Rings Experience

If Yoshi General had to live in the wild for the rest of his life, he would prefer New Zealand, the home of humans, elves, orcs and dwarves. Yoshi General despises the humans in the movie, because they are weak like Boromir.  Yoshi loves the elves. They are highly skilled in combat, elegant in their ways, smart, and long lived. Legolas is Yoshi’s favourite elf.  He is highly skilled in combat, knowledgeable, and uncorrupted by evil.  Legolas can get women with the flick of his fingers, but unlike in Troy, Orlando Bloom chooses not to. Yoshi also has great respect for Gandalf. This old guy with a staff can take down a fiery hell demon. Yoshi can turn into a fiery flying dragon. He would not want to fight Gandalf.

  1. Technically, the ‘old guy with a staff’ and the ‘fiery hell demon’ are both Maiar, heavenly beings of immense power. Though Gandalf may be an Istari and the Balrog an Úmaiar of Thangorodrim, it would be unfair to say that Mithrandir was out of his league in their encounter at the bridge of Khazad-dûm. Certainly, the battle of the peak atop Celebdil (aka Zirakzigil) could be said to be a showdown between equals. It would have been unwise indeed for the Valar to simply send an ‘old guy’ to combat the Dark Lord in Middle Earth.
